MEET THE DEVELOPMENT STAFFJennifer Lamb Jennifer Lamb joined the School as director of development in February 2004. Prior to coming to George Mason University, she was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As director of development in the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University, Ms. Lamb is a member of the dean’s senior management team and also serves as the liaison to the University’s Development Office. Her main responsibilities include directing and supervising fund-raising and alumni activities, including annual-, capital- and planned-giving programs. In concert with the dean, the she has helped design a strategic plan for the school’s upcoming $20M capital campaign, which was officially launched in October, 2005. She has developed and implemented programs for achieving established fund-raising objectives, for example, the individual and corporate partnership programs and the annual Spring Awards Gala. She serves as the school’s ambassador to corporations and foundations and organizes the school’s boards and recruits alumni volunteers. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1989 with a B.A. in sociology. She received the master’s degree in education with a concentration in psychological services from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and did additional graduate coursework in education and human development at George Washington University. She has been an active and long-time member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Linda joined the Volgenau School and George Mason University in September, 2008 as the Associate Director of Corporate Relations. She manages and oversees The Volgenau School’s Corporate Partnership program. In that role she is a point-of-contact within the School assisting those in industry who want to be notably visible and accessible to our IT & Engineering students and faculty. She helps to create a customized plan for companies to stay connected with the Volgenau School in ways that are important to them no matter what size the company. Additionally, her responsibilities include helping to secure corporate sponsorships for the School’s Annual Awards Gala and all special events as they relate to fund-raising. Linda is a seasoned fundraiser and she has an extensive background in the educational and not-for-profit fundraising worlds. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Linda shares: “I have lived in the Northern Virginia area now for more than 18 years and I have watched Mason grow in both reputation and size. My son is an alumnus of the Volgenau School’s Applied IT Program, so I am very familiar with the quality of education our students receive. I am proud to be the liaison between the corporate community and the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering, and I am anxious to be of assistance to our corporate friends.” Linda can be reached at lkovac@gmu.edu or 703-993-9375.
Peter J. Farrell Pete Farrell began working at Mason’s Volgenau School of Information Technology in 2007 as the Director of Alumni Relations and as an adjunct faculty member in the Applied Information Technology curriculum. As Director of Alumni Relations, he works to enhance alumni participation at the Volgenau School of IT & Engineering and increase alumni exposure and involvement in the school. Pete was the 2005 IT&E Alumni of the Year and served as a volunteer at George Mason University as President of the University Alumni Association and as Chair of the Annual Fund Committee. He has a BS and MS from Mason. Before joining the Mason staff, Mr. Farrell had roles in the corporate arena as Senior Vice President of IT Services, Vice President of Business Development, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President & General Manager of Consulting Operations. Pete is committed to reuniting alumni with the Volgenau School and Mason students, and increasing alumni participation at the University.
