SUMMER 2009 BRIDGE PROGRAMThe two week summer program will begin July 12th on George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus. Up to twenty (20) qualified students will be selected to participate in the program, which is cost-free to participants. These students will have an opportunity to experience university life while living in a residential hall. The intense two-week program of study will focus primarily on student empowerment and strategies that promote academic success. Successful participants in the Summer Bridge Program will receive an evaluation from the Bridge Program Coordinator with recommendations for a stipend of up to $600 that can be applied toward books for the fall semester. Collaborative learning is strongly encouraged in the Summer Bridge Program. Participants will make new friends and have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Mason’s campus and its extensive services. Participants will be prepared to be successful in all aspects of their college life. Most importantly, however, this program provides an excellent opportunity for students to prepare for exceptional performance in technical courses such as pre-calculus, calculus, and physics.
