GRADUATE JOB OPPORTUNITIESStudent Web designer needed for GMU's Alumni Association Legislative Advocacy Committee
George Mason's Alumni Association Legislative Advocacy Committee is looking for a student web designer for a brand new website. We're looking for someone to help design a very simple user-friendly website that will be accessed by interested Alumni and Friends of the University. The student will use a CMS called Joomla! to lay out the site, and will work in conjunction with members of the committee. The student will be in charge of developing the site design and layout and the committee will provide website content.
Ideally, we're looking for: • A student with practical real-world experience or an impressive student portfolio • Experience with, or a willingness to quickly learn, Wordpress and Joomla! • Interactive / website design and development • Ability to meet deadlines • Proficiency with WAMP, HTML, CSS, PHP, and CMS • Excellent attention to detail • Experience with slicing, optimizing graphics, and exporting for HTML production • Knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform issues • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills • Ability to work well by yourself in a deadline-oriented environment Compensation and Hours: • Compensation will be in form of references and a great portfolio experience, as well as credit on the site. And, an opportunity to interact with the Alumni Association Board of Directors. • We envision the project lasting anywhere from 10-40 hours (depending on your previous experience). About the Committee: The Legislative Advocacy Committee is a group - working in conjunction with the George Mason University Alumni Association, Student Body, Faculty, and friends of George Mason University - which seeks to inform interested members of our community of relevant information that pertains to the university. More specifically, the value of George Mason University to Local and State elected officials. Members of this group can elect to receive information about Mason, and find ways we can help make Mason a top priority within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
