Saunders, Davis, Gantz, Miller, and Helper receive $975K from the DOJ
Dr. Christopher Saunders (PI; Applied Information Technology department), Prof. Linda Davis (co-PI; Dept. of Statistics), Prof. Don Gantz (AIT), Prof. John Miller (Statistics) and Dr. Amanda Helper, received an award from the Department of Justice, in the amount of $974,981 for the project titled “Quantifying the Effects of Database Size and Sample Quality on Measures of Individualization Validity and Accuracy in Forensics." The period of performance is 03/01/2010 to 02/28/2013.
The lead unit on this award is the Intelligence and Security Research Center.

Professor Sushil Jajodia, Director CSIS, receives $814K from an Army Research Office MURI
Professor Sushil Jajodia, director of the Center for Secure Information Systems (CSIS), received $814,037 (Mason total) for a 5-year MURI sponsored by the Army Research Office. The title of the project is "Computer-aided Human Centric Cyber Situation Awareness".

Dr. Daniel A. Menasce, Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Computer Science in the Volgenau School, will present the talk "The Importance of Models in the Design and Analysis of Computer Systems." Dr. Menasce is the recipient of the school's 2009 Outstanding Research Faculty Award

Prof. Xinyuan (Frank) Wang named the recipient of the 2009 Rising Star Faculty Research award by the Volgenau School
Prof. Xinyuan (Frank) Wang, from our Department of Computer Science, is the recipient of the 2009 Volgenau School Rising Star Faculty Research Award. The award is given to a scholar who is a rising star in his/her field and well on the way to gaining national prominence for his/her contributions. Prof. Wang will be honored at the School’s Fall Faculty Meeting and will be awarded $1,000.
Professor Songing Chen is a recipient of the 2009 Mason Emerging Researcher, Scholar, and Creator Award
Professor Songqing Chen, of our Department of Computer Science, was named a recipient of the 2009 Mason Emerging Researcher, Scholar, and Creator Award. This very competitive award, will be given to Dr. Chen during Mason's Celebration of Achievements event to take place on November 4. 2009. Dr. Chen is a past recipient of our school's Rising Star Award.
