Reading assignment: Friedenthal, et al, Chapters 1-2
Homework must be neat and readable. At the top of every page you must write your name, the assignment number, and the due date. Clearly indicate the question you are answering. You do not need to copy the entire question, but you must mark the question number and a brief description at the beginning of your answer for each question.
This assignment describes a system being considered for development by Safdesigns, Inc., a company that develops technologies for risk assessment. The intended users are security officials in large office buildings who are required to identify risk factors for terrorist incidents and other security hazards. Currently, inspection in most buildings is a manual process involving manual analysis of paper checklists. SecureSite will allow a building inspector to use a handheld device to enter information about potential risk factors such as visitor screening procedures, inspection policies, safety features, etc. An expert system will analyze the information, assign an overall security rating, and provide a list of recommendations for security improvements.
1. Write a need statement for SecureSite.
2. Write a set of mission requirements for SecureSite.
3. Write a vision
statement for SecureSite.
3. Write a verbal operational scenario describing an inspection in which the inspector walks around the perimeter of the building, testing doors to make sure they are locked, and observing whether the entire perimeter can be seen by security cameras. No issues or problems are found during the inspection. Your scenario should describe data entry and production of the report.
4. Write a verbal operational scenario describing an inspection in
which the inspector observes that a bush has grown high enough to
obstruct the view of a security camera. It would be possible for a
vehicle containing explosives to park next to the building without
being observed by cameras. Your scenario should include the process of
entering this information into the system and generating a report with
recommended improvements.
5. Write a verbal operational scenario describing training of a new
security inspector.
