Homework Assignment 5
Due October 8, 2009
Reading assignment: SysML Guide Section 7.11, Chapter 12
Homework must be neat and readable. At the top of every page
you must include your name, the assignment number, and the due
date. Clearly indicate the question you are answering. You do not
need to copy the entire question, but you must mark the question number
and a brief description at the beginning of your answer for each
question.
This assugnment concerns the SNUPOS case study we discussed in class on October 1. Time will be provided during class on October 6 to work on this assignment. Please come to class on October 6 prepared to work on this assignment.
Read the questions, think about how to answer them, and be
prepared to discuss them with your team members.
Your team may choose to submit a single response with
everyone's name on it, or you may each hand in individual documents. If you
hand in individual documents, there is no penalty for similarity to
other members of your group. If there was a group member who does not
make class on October 6, you may include this person in a group
submission but only if this group member contributes actively to finishing the assignment. Otherwise, please ask the person to submit an individual assignment.
- Make a use case diagram that covers all the operational scenarios in the SNUPOS case study.
- Use a SysML internal block diagram to represent the interaction of SNUPOS and its external systems.
- Develop an objectives hierarchy for SNUPOS. Do not include
weights. We will discuss weights in
more detail later in the semester. Focus on capturing the major
objectives of stakeholders.
- Use a SysML block definition diagram to represent your objectives hierarchy in SysML.
- Write input, output, functional and external interface
requirements for the first SNUPOS operational scenario, Creating a Study Plan. (See pages 25-27 of the Unit 5 notes.) Write at least one of each category of requirement.
- Write system-wide reliability, availability and maintainability requirements for SNUPOS. (See page 28 of the Unit 5 notes.)
- Make a report that includes all the information given in the case
study, your use case diagram, your objectives hierarchy, a verbal
description of your objectives hierarchy, and the requirements you
wrote. Make this into a professional looking report -- with a cover
page, a table of contents, and sections for each of the elements of
your partial design definition.
- The cover page should include a descriptive
title such as "SNUPOS Case Study: Partial Design Definition."
Include your group number and all the names of the students who
contributed on the cover page. The cover page should also say it
was submitted to Professor Laskey for Assignment 5 in SYST 210.
- Make sure your name (if it's an individual assignment) or your
group number appears on every page, and that the names of all contributing group members appear on the cover page.
- Make sure "Assignment 5" appears on every page, and promiently on the cover page.
- Hand in a printed document or submit an electronic document to Blackboard.
Everyone in your group should submit something to Blackboard so you can
receive a grade -- but you need to hand in only one actual document if
you are doing this as a group.
- Upload your resume to Blackboard under Assignment 5A. Also provide proof of INCOSE or SES membership.
