Introduction to Engineering Students Display Solutions to Real-life Challenges

The loss of the use of one arm happens more often than you might think. Whether long-term from a stroke or short-term from a broken bone or sprain, many people are limited without the use of both arms. Students in Mason's Introduction to Engineering class, ENGR107, experienced this situation first hand. They put their non-dominant hand in a sling or took the arm out of service in some way. They kept a journal of the problems encountered.Volgenau Engineering student shares project

Then, their task was simple: Design something to make life better for a person with that disability. Students defined the problem to solve, brainstormed solutions, selected the best, designed it, built it, tested it and evaluated it.

The teams will demonstrate their solutions April 28 from 4:30 – 7:10 in the Patriots Lounge in Sub 1.
