Melissa L. Rossi—a civil, environmental, and infrastructure engineering undergraduate student in the accelerated master’s program with a focus in transportation engineering—has been awarded the 2017 Women’s Transportation Seminar DC (WTS-DC) Undergraduate Scholarship.

The $1,500 scholarship, sponsored by Kimley-Horn, is awarded to deserving women in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area who are pursuing a degree in a transportation-related field.

Rossi is the recipient of this award due to her academic excellence, passion for the transportation field, and commitment to enhancing the nation’s transportation system. She was the first intern hired by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, a regional body responsible for allocating an annual budget of $300 million to improve mobility in Northern Virginia.

The award was presented to Rossi December 5 during the WTS-DC chapter’s 40th Anniversary Celebration.
