George Mason University’s MIX@Fenwick is hosting the second PatriotHacks from October 18 to 20. Students from Mason, Northern Virginia Community College, Virginia Tech, VCU, the University of Maryland, and possibly more will spend 36 hours creating their own projects and sharing ideas to compete for prizes.
Sponsors like Battelle, CoStar Group, MetroStar Systems, and more will be giving tech-talks and workshops to students. Specific tracks for projects and workshops will added to give participants a wide variety of content areas to work with like sustainability, virtual reality, and more.
“I am most excited to see all of the exciting, innovative projects the students come up with,” says Afnan Ali, an organizer for PatriotHacks and computer engineering major. “The PatriotHacks team has been working hard to make this event enjoyable for everyone from first-time hackers to seasoned pros.”
In addition to non-stop hacking, there will be a salsa dancing lesson and food catered throughout the event.
At the end of the night, teams will submit their work for judging to win prizes. Last year, 33 projects were entered for final judging.
Students can register here for the free event, and all skill levels are welcome.
