The Alumni Difference: Giving Societies
By participating at these alumni giving levels, you are investing in the education that you received as well as helping current students and faculty. The national reputation of a university depends on alumni giving. By designating your gift to the Volgenau School Dean’s Fund, the Volgenau School Scholarship Fund or your department or program, you join a community of involved alumni who provide support for Mason Engineering.
Your company’s matching gift counts towards your donation. Many companies offer a 1:1 match—meaning your donation can be doubled!
Members of the Dean’s Circle are the philanthropic leaders of the Volgenau School. This community helps sustain the school’s mission to educate future engineers and create the country’s largest, most comprehensive engineering school. Members receive news from the Volgenau School about current events and activities. Also, as well-informed alumni, the school encourages members to serve as judges for student projects as well as participate on volunteer boards. Donors who give $1,000 or more during the fiscal year (July 1–June 30) become members of the Dean’s Circle.
The Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD) Circle at the Volgenau School of Engineering is committed to recognizing our most recent graduates. Members have the opportunity to network with the Volgenau School Dean’s Circle and receive all the benefits of the Dean’s Circle but with a smaller minimum donation. The membership is renewable on an annual basis (July 1- June 30). Membership in the GOLD Circle is tiered:
Alumni Classes 2009 - 2005 ~ $800 and above/ Alumni Classes 2014 - 2010 ~ $400 and above / Alumni Classes 2020 - 2015 ~ $100 and above
Consecutive Giving Society
Alumni donors who give consecutively for 5 or more years. 10+, 15+, and 20+ levels will receive annual recognition for meeting the consecutive giving levels.
The Legacy Society recognizes generous, forward-looking donors who have included George Mason University in their estate planning. Through long-range gift planning, graduates and friends leave a lasting legacy for the school in the form of bequests, gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and donations of life insurance.
