Professor Sean Luke was quoted in an Associated Press story, "Heads Up World Cup Teams: The Robots are Coming."  On July 18 the Volgenau School's team will head to Brazil for the international competition. The team wants to teach its players to work together in real time. In the AP story Luke says, "You don't program humans to play soccer. We want (robots) to learn how to play soccer the same way humans learn how to play soccer."

The team of David Freeland, Drew Wicke, and Steve Arnold plan to train their 18-inch-tall humanoids through field demonstrations immediately before each game. This innovative approach is something the team has become known for since its first competition and has implications for using droids to respond to diasters and emergencies.
