Biography

Setareh Rafatirad's research focuses mainly on automatic construction of flexible event models (referred as R-Ontology) using high-level domain event ontology and contextual semantics of multimedia data and information stored in the cloud. She is also interested in developing new automatic methods for deriving and inferring high-level textual descriptions of multimedia data to facilitate human-computer interaction, user experience, and social networking. All of these factors contribute to innovation in the field of Big Data. Rafatirad is working on new and more efficient methods for users to garner better data within the context of their multimedia computer use. Her research categories include methods for ontology engineering, multimedia analysis, event-based photo annotation, semantic web, multimedia information retrieval, data mining, social networks, and modeling events and event operators.
